Manual and Automatic Operation of Hormann Operators
To disconnect the door from the operator (operate the door manually)
Pull on the cord attached to the cage that travels along the boom arm. It will click out of the belt and allow the door to be opened and closed manually.
Press the green button on the cage that travels along the boom arm. It will click and set the cage in the automatic mode. The cage then needs to pick up the contact point on the belt.
Using either the buttons on the unit itself or using a hand transmitter, activate the operator as you would to open or close the door normally.
When the contact point on the belt meets the cage it will click back in. You may have to activate the operator for a second time if the contact point on the belt travels in the wrong direction to meet the cage.
Hi my Hormann Promatic 2 garage door fob does not seem to open the door . I need to press many times to open it . What do I do ? Help me please
Hi Dr Varadarajan, if the fob is working eventually it sounds like either the battery is low or the button on the fob may be faulty. You could try a new battery in the fob, and see if that resolves the issue. Failing that you may require a new fob: https://www.ukgaragedoorspares.co.uk/hormann-hse2-hand-transmitter-868-3mhz
Does that mean I have to sync with the main unit? I will try the battery first . Please let me know if I have to sync it with the main unit. What sort of battery should I buy please
Normally you can swap the battery without having to resync the fob to the unit, just be careful to not press any buttons on the fob circuit when swapping the battery over.
The required battery depends which version of fob you have, but these normally take an 11a or a 23a battery. The battery you need should be printed on the existing battery somewhere.
How do you open a Hormann door manually from outside please? Fuse boxes are inside garage with no other access door!
Hello Neil,
Depending on the type of garage door you have installed, sectional door; you should have a key hole located on the outside of the door, a key should of been provided with the installation, use the key to unlock and a wire will be released to be pulled to gain access (you will be required to pull the wire quite hard and push the door up at the same time). Up and over: a key hole is usually located on the handle but can be located anywhere on the door, depending how the emergency release has been installed. If it’s located on the handle you need to unlock with the key provided and turn the handle whilst pushing the door up to gain access. If it’s located anywhere else on the door it’s the same process as the sectional door. Roller doors: Usually a box or keyhole is located on the outside, but you will have been provided with a long bar / with a hook on the end to wind down the door. Unlock with key and insert the bar and wind the handle to gain access to the door. Some of Hormann’s roller doors have a box on the outside of the door located usually on the wall next to the door and once you have unlocked the box you will need to pull the wire to gain access.
Thanks, I hope this helps.
