Esh Build Developments commission ABi Garage Doors to install timber sectional doors in York.
The Brief
We were approached by Esh Build Developments to supply and install wooden garage doors for an exclusive development of five luxury homes on Shipton Street in York. The project required high-quality timber doors that would complement the architectural design of the properties, with all doors to be fully automated. The development is located within our core service area for garage doors in York.
Our Solution
The architectural plans called for bespoke wooden garage doors that would suit the clean, modern appearance of the build while still offering long-term durability. Working closely with the architects and the Cedar Door Company, we designed and supplied custom-built cedar garage doors manufactured to specific sizes and design requirements.
The final specification used sectional garage doors, allowing smooth operation while maximising internal space. These bespoke sectional garage doors were constructed from Western Red Cedar, a naturally robust timber well suited to external use. All doors were traditionally built using mortice and tenon joints, resulting in a strong, high-quality product designed for long-term performance.
As solid timber garage doors are heavier than standard steel alternatives, we recommended Hörmann SupraMatic P Series 3 operators. With a peak force of 1000N, these operators are designed specifically for larger and heavier doors and meet all relevant European safety and performance standards.
Installation
To ensure a smooth installation process, we worked closely with the site foreman to coordinate fitting dates and comply with all on-site health and safety requirements. With multiple contractors working on the development, careful scheduling was essential. The installation of all five automated wooden sectional garage doors was completed efficiently over a three-day period.
