The Brief

A customer was undertaking a full renovation of their property and wanted replacement garage and entrance doors. The entrance door included duel side elements and a timber clad section that was structurally integral to an internal partition wall.

Our Solution

A garage door is often the biggest visible feature on your property. The impact this has on the appearance of your property does not only depend on the garage door itself. The garage door has to reflect a number of other aesthetic details of the property. Our customers often spend a great deal of time deliberating over garage door design and colour options and for good reason. Doors, windows, frames and architectural styles are just some of the considerations that need to be taken into account when selecting garage door options. These are some of reasons we have developed our ‘matching’ range of entrance and personnel doors. We have sourced doors from a number of suppliers that correlate specifically with garage door colour and design options.

We initially discussed a number of products and design options with our customer including the Solidor composite door range, as its modern aesthetic compliments the Hörmann sectional door and the flexibility of the Solidor options allowed for the appropriate size side elements to be incorporated into the installation.

The final decision of the Solidor Milano entrance door and Hormann M-rib sectional garage door incorporated designs and colours that would be in keeping with the feel of the property and stay true to the customer’s vision for the renovation work. The sizing of the entrance door and side elements needed to be extremely precise as we needed to ensure that the installation work would not disturb the internal partition wall.

Installation

Both the garage door and entrance door would take a full day each to install so we booked these in for two separate days. This also provided the least amount of disruption to contractors working on the ongoing renovation work. The doors were installed as scheduled.

The Solidor and its two side elements were installed into the existing opening without disturbing the timber clad section, which had now been rendered. We then installed the Hörmann M-rib sectional door complete with a Hörmann SupraMatic automation system.
