Wakefield Council look at ways to add needed homes
Wakefield Council is looking at ways to build more homes near the city, and have recently outlined a plan to build over 560 new properties at a former colliery in Glass Houghton. This will be in addition to plans to add over 500 more homes on the outskirts of Wakefield and Leeds.
The Councils Planning and Highways committee has granted outline permission for development works along with the full permissions of land remediation work at the site in Glass Houghton.
Speaking about the plans, Councillor Denise Jeffery, said: “We have been working on this application for some time and working on the redevelopment of the pit for about 14 years. This development could really transform the Castleford area.”
